The River Philip Foundation makes investments within the following areas:<\/p>\n\t\t
The River Philip Foundation will invest in community infrastructure projects in cases where the facility supports community based social and economic goals which benefit its residents.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tClick Here to Apply\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t The River Philip Foundation is interested in supporting college and university education as well as adult education and enrichment programs for children.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tClick Here to Apply\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t The River Philip Foundation aims to invest in programs and services which offer opportunities for those living in poverty to achieve self-sufficiency. This would include supporting programs to address basic needs, for example, housing, access to transportation, and food supply.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tClick Here to Apply\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t The River Philip Foundation has made a multi-year commitment to fund transformative medical research at universities and medical schools in Canada.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tClick Here for More Information\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t The River Philip Foundation believes it is important to enrich Canadian culture and historical heritage by contributing to art and cultural institutions and programs including museums, art galleries, performing arts, and the preservation of significant Canadian history.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tClick Here to Apply\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t One of the River Philip Foundation’s primary concentrations is supporting programs and initiatives which help resolve issues related to at risk youth.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tClick Here to Apply\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n The Foundation only makes grants to qualified donees under the Income Tax Act of Canada<\/em>. The foundations does not fund indirect expenses or general administrative overhead costs.<\/p>\n The Foundation has made a\u00a0substantial\u00a0long term, multi-year commitment to fund transformative medical research at universities and medical schools in Canada.<\/p>\n This includes supporting transformative research through a multi-year\u00a0grant program for\u00a0established research teams, on the verge of a significant advancement or discovery in their field. The investment of up to $1 million per\u00a0research\u00a0project\u00a0is intended\u00a0to accelerate success and enable the research team to significantly advance medicine within\u00a0a 2 to 3-year period. \u00a0Projects of specific interest are:<\/p>\n The Foundation will also fund research that is considered most likely to produce significant advances as identified by the partnering University. These grants are for up to $100,000 and are for research proposals that have been highest ranked by CIHR but didn’t receive funding. These grants would provide\u00a0bridging\u00a0financing with the\u00a0expectation\u00a0that the researcher would submit a grant proposal to CIHR for the\u00a0subsequent\u00a0year.<\/p>\n How to apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n The Foundation will leverage the research selection and adjudication process of Canadian universities and medical schools to assist in the selection and adjudication of all proposals.<\/p>\n All applicants must hold academic appointments in a Canadian University.<\/p>\n For more information on our partnership with Dalhousie University and to understand the application process please contact\u00a0<\/strong>Dalhousie Medical Research<\/p>\n Development Office at\u00a0mrdo@dal.ca<\/a><\/p>\n Dr. Susan D. Moffatt-Bruce, MD, FRCSC, PhD, MBA, MBOE, FACS joined Beth Israel Lahey Health as the President of Lahey Hospital and Medical Center on March 1st<\/sup>, 2023. Previously she was the Chief Executive Officer of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Royal College International. The Royal College sets the standards and curriculum for post graduate medical education in 69 specialties and supports the continued professional development of over 54,000 specialists in Canada and worldwide.<\/p>\n Show More<\/p> Prior to the Royal College, Dr. Moffatt-Bruce served as executive director at The Ohio State University (OSU) Wexner Medical Center University Hospital. As the OSU Wexner Medical Center\u2019s inaugural chief quality and patient safety officer, she led data analysis, transparent reporting of outcomes and process improvement for a seven-hospital academic medical center. Dr. Moffatt-Bruce and her team were celebrated for their success in developing and implementing a learning healthcare system across the patient care continuum.<\/p>\n Now at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Dr. Moffatt-Bruce will steward the implementation of the UMass Chan Lahey Medical School with its inaugural class joining Lahey in August 2024. Based on value-based leadership and community engagement, UMass Chan Lahey Medical School intends to train the next generation of healthcare providers with a team based and values driven approach. The newly envisioned Lahey Institute of Healthcare delivery, where innovation, learning and implementation science come together will a key driver of success during this dynamic time in healthcare.<\/p>\n A funded health outcomes research scientist and surgeon, Dr. Moffatt-Bruce is a lifelong learner and has used her skills to help develop curriculum for residents and faculty around quality and outcomes research as the educational enablement of learning healthcare systems. She has been the Principal Investigator of an AHRQ P30 program entitled Institute for the Design of Environments Aligned for patient safety (IDEA4PS)<\/strong> that could elevate a learning healthcare system so to improve clinical alarms surveillance, digitally hot spot clinical infections and improve patient communications using EMR portals. With her research and clinical teams, she has published over 180 peer-reviewed journals and presented the work and research internationally for over a decade. \u00a0She is now a faculty member of the Department of Surgery and Professor at the UMass Chan Lahey School of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts where she is committed to enabling learning cirles, resulting in value-based care. Show Less<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Ms. Craighead is a corporate director with over twenty years of experience with public company boards of directors. She is skilled in global human resources, finance and financial reporting, executive compensation, corporate governance, and business strategy. Jane holds a PhD in Management from McGill University, a BComm from Mount Allison University and a CPA accounting designation with over 30 years in business, accounting and finance.<\/p>\n Show More<\/p> Jane is a past director of Clearwater Seafoods where she chaired the Human Resources and Development Committee and was a member of the Finance and Audit committees as well as the Special Committee for the sale process.<\/p>\n She recently completed five years as a director of Jarislowsky Fraser Limited, one of Canada's leading independent investment firms.<\/p>\n Jane was a member of the Board of the IntertapePolymer Group and chaired the Human Resources Committee until it was taken private in 2022.<\/p>\n Jane is currently a member of the Boards of Crombie Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), Wajax Corporation and Telesat Corporation. All three are TSX listed companies. Jane chairs the Governance and Nominating Committee for Crombie and the Human Resources Committee for both Wajax and Telesat.<\/p>\n Jane is Co-Vice Chair of the McGill University Hospital Centre (MUHC) Foundation and past Vice-Chair of the Board of Regents of Mount Allison University.<\/p>\n Ms. Craighead has published research on executive compensation and corporate governance. She has lived and worked abroad, and also has been awarded one of Canada\u2019s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women\u2019s Executive Network.
